Rosneft files 89 bln rbl suit against Sakhalin-1 participants

MOSCOW, Jul 23 (PRIME) -- The Arbitration Court of the Sakhalin Region registered an 89 billion ruble claim by oil major Rosneft against companies-participants of the Sakhalin-1 oil and gas project on Monday.

Rosneft demanded a return of what is sees as illegal enrichment by the companies, and interest for the use of money between July 10, 2015 and May 31, 2018.

Exxon Neftegas Limited, which owns 30% in Sakhalin-1, Sakhalin Oil and Gas Development (part of Japan’s Sodeco with 30%), ONGC Videsh Limited with 20%, and also parts of Rosneft Sakhalinmorneftegaz-shelf with 11.5%, and RN-Astra with 8.5% were listed as the co-defendants.

Preliminary hearing was scheduled for September 10.
